 Hi

Newbie here. There is a “rare” Miata advertised on Pistonheads at the moment. Does this mean that its an import from the USA?

Would there be any problems owning such a car?

Which one? The silver car is just a Eunos Roadster. The black car is a Miata import. Problems with this will be horrendous insurance (non-UK spec AND its LHD). Some parts will be different (eg. parts of the braking system). Shouldn’t be worth all that much as its not exactly mint.

Yeah its the silver one I was looking at. Its not far from me. So why is he saying its a Miata do you think? Didn’t notice the black one.

 I did like the look of the silver one but was put off by him saying it was a rare Miata. Its only a few miles from me, which always helps.

Every thing on that screams out 1995 Eunos Roadster. Of course its possible, someone has taken a 95 Miata, changed all the badging, dash, done a tidy conversion under teh bonnet, changed the windscreen cowel. Unlikely though. And they would have fitted Roadster door trims; 95 US spec door trims are different (different tops), and there were be no reason to change them.

Some significant differences that won’t be changed; Miatas don’t carry the vin plate screwed to the fire wall. Instead, they will have a vin sticker on each front wing (look carefully), in addition to one on the dash by the windscreen. US cars will also carry an additional warning sticker on the passenger side fan shroud; not present on Roadsters.

 

The seller is only calling it a “rare Miata” because a Miata badge has been stuck on the rear (original Eunos rear badge is still present).
