Mid-Life Crisis has arrived, North West London NC 3.5

So mid-life crisis mode had arrived and I needed a hit! So sports car it had to be. I’ve been talking about getting one for a really long time, I initially thought, I’d go for a Boxster, however, having driven one, I felt it was a really good grand tourer rather than a sports car. I was looking for the old school feel and that where the MX-5 came in.

So in my search of many years and more seriously in last few months I’ve been on the look out for a tastefully modded NC 3.5.

Came across this one last week, it a 2.0l Kendo, with a BBR 200 and BBR coil overs, will take delivery of it next week. It had the feel that I was after. I’m really looking forward to taking it out on b-road blasts and the occasional track day!

p.s. if the previous owner is on here, I’d love to touch base.

Welcome along to the club.

Enjoy the car and the forum…..it’s a wealth of knowledge

Welcome from Hertfordshire.

Nice car!

Was thinking about seeing that car but a few things put me off. I don’t remember seeing it was a BBR 200 in the description

Welcome from J16 on the M25 wishing you many smiles per mile :smiling_face_with_sunglasses::+1:

I noticed the bbr badge on the back, so gave bbr a call and they confirmed the bits it had done. When I went through the invoices, it was all there.

The thing that almost put me off was the 5 speed box, so thought I’d go and try it out and yeah I was happy with it.

Haha that’s a result! Gutted I missed that What other parts does it have

It’s got the BBR rear silencer as well… I think it’s the touring one. I’m only saying that as it had a nice sound when accelerating but was pretty quiet at steady speed.

Definitely don’t be put off by the 5 speed gearbox, I have a sport with the 6 speed & another with the 5 speed & actually prefer the 5 speed tbh. But that’s just me.

I liked the throw and it felt “right” - not put off at all… just looking forward to driving it when I pick it up next week. I’ll get myself to a car meet as soon as the calendar allows.

Hi TC

Sat on the train as I type, on my way to Wiltshire to collect my new toy

Thanks… it’s clean thing, thanks to previous owner who was fastidious about it.

Drives as good as it looks … couple of things I intend upgrading (radio to a CarPlay unit) and maybe lift the coil overs up by 10mm to save cringing at every traffic calming measure :man_facepalming:

Welcome from Norfolk. Car looks great. 5 speed box seems from what I’ve read to be less prone to 1st to 2nd gear notchiness than 6 speeder. Enjoy.

Thank you David, I picked it up on Wednesday and have already enjoyed a spirited drive. They are right when they say you can enjoy it at legal speeds… amazed at how quickly I can take corners. The “squatting” takes a little bit of getting used to but it’s progressive enough that it’s not too disconcerting.

Still in my first few days of ownership! I need to get some more miles on it and really get to understand the car!

Glad you’re enjoying it Mike.

I agree,if I’d of kept probably do both of those tasks.

Hopefully you have years of fun with her

Mark, had a run over to Harrogate on Tuesday with some friends, there was a diversion on the route that took us through a town full of speed humps :open_mouth: first one crunched… next half dozen, crawled over at about 2mph
