It should flash every few seconds, indicating the theft deterrent system (no alarm siren, it just sounds horn & flashes lights) is armed.
hi andy, thanks for reply, thats how mine used to work, but ive only just noticed, ( this could have started some time ago ), that =
press transponder once = you hear the alarm set, but get no flashing dash light, although all is locked.
press transponder twice, double lock = you hear alarm set, and dash light flashes once, but no continuse dash light flashing, again, all is locked.
any ideas anyone,
Do you have an original mazda stereo with a security code set? If so you should get a red flashing light on that which may stop the one on the dash, cos then you’d have two blinking deterrent lights - just a theory!
hi again andy, yes i do have the mazda unit radio fitted, and that, when alarm set with transponder also emits red flashing light continusly, but the problem is, i have only just noticed that the alarm red dash light only flashes once, rather than continusely as it used to, im an old carpenter mate,so electrics are very foregn to me
happy to say , now sorted, after running tests on each door, and boot lid, i inspected engine bay, found that the alarm contact support was slightly bent downwards, gently bent contact back into position, bingo, alarm unitl now working fine
note, some weeks ago i had a service done on car, somehow the alarm contact must have been accidentaly bent down…
