Mk 2 door speakers

 I’ve read several threads about people taking out the original speaker adaptors and screwing 8" (20cm) speakers directly into the door metal without modiforcation.

But having looked at the hole under the door skin, it looks as if 6x9’s might just fit? Just wondered if anyone has managed to fit 6x9’s without too much trouble?

MX5 parts sell JVC CS HX6848 to fit the mark 2 and these are 6 * 9 so I would expect any 6 * 9 to fit so long as the depth is OK.  Others in the JVC range are V6936 (cheap on Amazon), V6837 & V6835.  Higher numbers are newer.
