I use an audio lead with 3.5mm jack plug at both ends with my android phone. It means the phone then works through the car stereo as a music player / sat nav / hands free phone / speed camera finder. Works perfectly.

Hi
Where do you plug the lead into the car?
Regards
Jim
It plugs in to a 3.5mm jack socket situated to the right of the 12v auxillary socket just in front of the gearstick. It does on the ‘sport tech’ anyway. My iphone 4 works with the bluetooth. I don’t think you can sync all your phone contacts but you can make and recieve calls. I bought an ipod link from mx5 parts so I can charge my phone and use the steering control to forward tracks.

Can you stream music from the iPhone to the car audio system over Bluetooth?
Thanks for all your advice.
Is this all I need… http://www.amazon.co.uk/LUPO-Iphone-Stereo-3-5mm-Input/dp/B001N0AY7A
Yep, that’s the lead. It will play music through the stereo but you have to select tracks from your iphone not the steering controls. At a meter long you can put the iphone in the boot!!
As far as I know you can’t play music via bluetooth from your iphone.
should just add that I can play music via bluetooth from my iphone on other devices but not to the MX5.
How about one of these from Amazon UK?
Works perfectly; saves a few bob.
