Can someone throw some light on how I check if a 2.0l MK3.5 NC is 6 speed from the model?
I know all Sport models are 6 speed but are the limited editions (Kendo, Miyako etc) based upon SE spec or Sport?
Is there a hard and fast rule or is it a case of just asking the seller which gearbox it has?
I am not sure but i think all 2litres or 6 speed but all have the slip diff.
I know they all have a lsd but depending on where you read some limited editions state they are based upon the SE (5 speed), like the Miyako, however some Ventures are advertised as Sport Ventures so are they 2 different editions or the same?? Very confusing for someone new to the MX5 fold!
The two models you mention (Miyako and Kendo) are based on the SE model re gearbox, 5 speed. The 2 ltr engined will have the LSD.

Yup, my Miyako 3.5 2.0 has 5 speeds and LSD.
From what I’ve read on here though, the 6 speed box is not so very much more desirable.
