I’m considering buying a detachable hardtop for my 2006 Mk3. At 6ft 3in tall, my hair brushes the soft top roof and I don’t want to buy a hard top if there’s less headroom, more would be better. Do any of you have both and know if the headroom is less, more, or the same ?
Also, two more unrelated questions for a 2.0i 5 speed.
1/ I keep reading about gearbox turret oil. Does this only apply to the 6 speed ?
2/ Does the 2.0 have a Torsen LSD or the basic one ?
At that age there were three 2 ltr cars.
The auto maybe just a bit later than 2006 and it had an open diff.
The Sport with a 6 speed box which had a limited slip diff.
The 2 litre Option pack with a 5 speed box and there are those who claim it had a limited slip diff but I have never driven a 2 litre non Sport.
I have a Roadster Coupe so cannot help with the detachable hard top clearance.
Re the 6 speed box this came up on a google search on the first page.

Thanks, useful information about the turret oil. I’m not having problems with the gear change other than the usual slight notch shifting from 1st into 2nd when cold. The car’s only done 47,000 miles and according to the Mazda digital service history the oil was changed at 42,000.
By the way, I read somewhere the turret needs 80 ml of oil. I haven’t looked as there’s no need at the moment, it’s for future reference.
As for the LSD. The 2006 brochure states both the 6 speed Sport and 5speed 2.0i option pack (mine’s the latter) have LSD, I just wondered if they’re Torsen, the brochure doesn’t say.
I believe it is a Tochigi Fuji Super LSD
Looking on the EPC is shows there is/was an option of a 5 speed with LSD, but the LSD is even more than the 6 speed version (6 spd is 1387 +VAT, 5spd is 1450 + VAT), to add even more confusion the open diff is actually more expensive! (manual box £1483 + VAT, auto is £1612 + VAT)
