2007 Mk 3. Recently I noticed that there was a lot of water lying behind the passengers seat. This is a fairly recent occurance, ie; in the last few months. I tried to clean the drainage tube with my trombone brush but still it was leaking in. I decided to bite the bullet and remove the tube from inside the car and fully clean it. There is a youtube video that shows how to do it but if you do, dont try to fit the black drainage tube back on its own first. You will no doubt end up as he did and lose it in the void. Keep the tube fitted to the plastic sleeve that contains the valve and also the flexible tube but minus the lower valve. In that way it is easier to fit back.
Having done that mine was still leaking inside and if you have removed the panelling as detailed in the video there is part of the loom that exits just above the seat belt mounting and water was coming in there. I reasoned tha the only way that could be happening was if the drainage trough had been damaged or the filter above it was clogged. Resigned to a full strip out to find out. However one last inspection when it was raining solved the problem and I have never heard of this one. The drainage trough that is connected to the drainage tube has an upright panel on it that acts as a deflector for the hood, keeping it above the drainage trough. What had happened on mine is that the hood right at the front, just behind the passengers window had some how slid down the inside of that deflector and therefore any water coming off it drained straight in to the car. It looks like the hood has slighlyt torn or been poorly made to do that. Easily manipulated into its right place and I will monitor it in the future.
I have a photo but dont do photobox so if anyone could do me a favour and let me know their email address I can send the photo if they can attach it here.

If you have the photo on your computer you can upload it in the reply to a post here on the forum, when you reply just click on the icon below that looks like a box with a tiny mountain in it, then chose the file from your computer.

Thanks for that carl_s.
The upright panel I refered to in my text is shown in the middle of the photo with a hockey stick mark on it. This is a shot after I had pushed the hood bit back behind the upright. As you can see the hood looks to have a slit or tear in it which may be why it pushed over the upright. On further investigation both sides have the ‘cut’ in the hood so this appears to be standard.
