Mk1 1.8 Fuel pressure regulator

Hi, I’ve just joined the forum, I’m picking your brains already!

I picked my MX5 up last saturday, it’s not running great… Its not been driven for a couple of years so i guess it might need a bit of a service and blow out… but

It has an adjustable fuel pressure regulator fitted, everything else as I’m aware is standard. When i picked it up at idle the pressure was set to 20PSI.

The idle was a little lumpy, i have adjusted the fuel reg listening to the idle and testing throttle responce (Have no insurance yet, so unable to properly test)

It seems to be running best (at stand still) at 40PSI, does anyone know what the pressure should be as standard??

I’ve had a look through the forum and not been able to find details for a standard 1.8.

Many thanks,

Reggie

Should be 32-38psi at idle.

I’m probbably wrong but i think they run at 43psi at iddle as standard.  Somebody else will know for sure.

Edit . ah posted before me and guess i’m slightly off

Thanks for that, I’ll knock the pressure back and give it a try.

Just to let you guys know, i took the car for a short run last weekend, it feels like a different car. Thanks for the help!
