Does anyone know if a 1.6 breather pipe will fit a 1.8 cam cover. The breather parts on the two engines look the same, but have different parts catalog numbers. About to order a used pipe, but the seller only indicates 1.6.

They are very similar but not the same.
The part will fit your cam cover but the end that joins the air pipe near the throttle body is bent down at a greater angle on the 1.6.
I would buy the correct one for your car because with the 1.6 part you will need a longer piece of rubber pipe to fit or need to bend the metal pipe. This would weaken the chrome coating.
This is listed on ebay as a 1.6 part but looks like a 1.8 to me…
After being scammed by a MX5 parts seller, I don’t do ebay. If its just the rubber tubing that needs lengthening, well I’ll go with that. Not bothered about the chrome finish. Currently, I have no breather pipe.

The offender has long disappeared, hopefully to the Scrubs; I think he worked for a bodyshop in Cornwall/Devon, and was stealing parts, or advertising parts, taking the money, and then going quiet. Ebay is full of thieves, as far as I’m concerned. Gumtree as well, given this morning’s news.
