Hi all,
I’ve managed to get hold of some electric chrome mirrors from a MK1 being scrapped and want to replace my manual pair that constantly drop.
Has anyone else done this before and have some documentation? I’ve searched the web and found limited info other than wiring diagram.
I’ve got the switch and pigtails so plan to just follow the wiring diagram and make my own harness to add to the existing door harness.
Popping off one of the switch blanks I found what looks like a pre-wired live connector. Can anyone confirm what this might be for?
My model of MX-5 is: MK1

Looks like the instrument cluster dimmer plug to me. Does whatever you unplugged from it have metal connectors on the back?
Yep, it had a metal strip inside it. I’ll grab a photo tomorrow.

That’s for the dimmer. With the blank left unplugged, you’ll have no dashlights. The dimmer was an option in some markets.
Ah this makes sense. I thought it looked too OEM to be a previous owners work to blank something off.
I guess I need to find somewhere else to install the switch then or remove my rear window heater switch (I never use it).
There is a duel HRW/Front fog switch available if you can find one.

You make a jumper cable. Or you move a few switches to the spot under the radio. The foglight switch by your right knee is in a truely terrible spot anyhow.
