Mk1 eunos o2 sensor 1.6

Mk1 Mx5 eunos o2 sensor for manifold

Need to specifiy 1.6 or 1.8. Plenty on sale at autolinkuk

Oh yes thanks Saz 1.6 :+1:

Thanks saz
Do you know how to find those fault codes

I just found out by bridging the diagnostic port ten to ground then turn ignition on and see if I have fault light sequence

You need a LED. Only US cars can be read from the dash

You can put the bits together DIY, or just buy a simple reader

Usually car with a failed lambda will have appallng fuel consumption.

Hi saz yes she’s not the best on fuel at moment especially at 1.46 litre for super unleaded lol. The problem I have is
On cold start up great idle up then drops back to 850-900 runs great then once warmed up now and then I get a slight dip if I push pedal down and it feels like it’s flooded, then cleans and runs great but on idle it goes up to 1500 rpm and once you turn the ignition off I have trouble starting like it’s flooded, I have to push gas pedal down all way for her to catch then I smell fuel and slight black comes out of exhaust but again power wise ect she runs great.
Like I said it’s not a miss it feels like too much fuel ? I did the diagnostic ten -ground and turned ignition on but no fault so I’m thinking on changing the O2 sensor to start with any help appreciated

The instructions that describe reading codes from a flashing dashboard light only apply to cars with a check engine light, ie US spec Miatas. You need to get an LED and resistor.

Thanks Saz I’ll order one now I also got Haynes book lol

Might also be worth checking the AFM have you got a cone filter or the original box filter?

Hi grumpy I have original Air Box.
Today I drove the car and she was a lot better lol revs only went up a couple of times at idle but most of the time at junctions idle dropped nicely to 850-900 ? But I can still smell she’s running rich and like Saz said she does seem thirsty at moment I’ll trip the next Tank to find out mpg
I’ll google how to check AFM now

If taking off the AFM, DO NOT undo the screws to disconnect the connector (many do); it’ll ruin the AFM Instead, there is a spring clip. The AFM is usually pretty reliable though, unless someone has messed around with it.

We had to adjust it but only because we have a cone filter and it was causing it to run rich

Yeah thanks Saz I’ll see how she runs by the weekend I also hope to go to Barry on Saturday which is only 40 minutes run to Total MX5 to see if they can test few things out and take it from there I’ll report back
