Mk1 fixing straps to hood frame

Hi guys.

I purchased a mohair roof from everythingmx5 from an ebay auction. I got the roof and some straps to attach to the frame but no instructions. Having a bit of trouble figuring out how to attach the straps to the frame. I’ve taken a picture of the straps they look similar to these http://www.mx5oc.co.uk/forum/forums/t/439.aspx but with the rear bar so far forward the back strap doesnt reach the rain rail bolt. Am i completely wrong in thinking the longer straps attach from the rain rail bolts to the back bar of the frame?

 

Any help would be appreciated.
