Your choices are a mixture - if you get a zip-out version, then yes it should all fit even though you have the brace-bar. If you want to avoid zipping out, you can get a conversion kit (included in some hoods - check!) to add straps that help the hood lower the window within the mk1 hood frame and effectively lays it flat for you, or another route would be to get a mk2 hood and frame, or frame to recover and this will then fold in a manner to lay the window flat, but it will be the most expensive option, unless you pluck a serviceable one off another car.

and the esteemed Jack Smiths Trimmers of Swansea get rave reviews about pricing / service.
I’ve got a 1993 Eunos with a factory brace bar & had a Jack Smiths mohair roof fitted last year with a glass rear screen. No problems at all when I lower the roof - the glass drops flat on the rear shelf.
I have a blue mohair roof on my Roadster along with a factory brace and the glass window lays flat no problem. Don’t know what make it is though, it was on the car when I bought it 4 years ago, althought it was quite new then. It has a Dandycars sticker in the window, but they may have just sold the car previously.

Thanks everyone for your replys, now I just need to decide if I want to upgrade to a mohair roof or keep it ‘factory’, does the club look down to non standard cars or embrace them?

The only difference with mine is it has Mazda 14" Alloys but I believe lots of dealers fitted these to increase kerb appeal. So if the club only think 150 of these were made from 1994-98 and they only had PAS from '97 then only a handful like mine exist???
Is there a list anywhere of club membership by each model and edition, colour etc?
There were about 1100 cars at the Chatsworth national last year. Don’t think there were any two that were identical. Just do whatever you think will make the car perfect for you. I’m biased but I still think Mazda spoilt the styling in the change from Mk1 to Mk2. I will concede that the glass window is better though. This is not one of those stick in the mud clubs where everything has to be done one way. Diversity rules! Just have fun.
Same here: I also have a silver 1.8 1996 - mohair hood fitted in 2001 - zip out window, pop flat on parcel shelf, up goes the deflector - pull hood down.
My MK1 has a mohair hood with glass window and the original brace bar. It’s a none-zip-out rear window. I do have to give the screen an extra push down when lowering the hood but it’s better than having to zip out all the time. Mohair looks good too.
