I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Horn problem - Momo steering wheel
My horn is not working, I have checked the horn which is ok., and I have now removed the horn button on my Momo steering wheel. There is no voltage across the horn switch terminals. I also tried a continuity test between the horn button and the relay, which failed. So I wonder if there is a connection problem behind the central “disc” you can see on the photo. I presumably need to get behind the disc to check connections, but I am not sure how to do this. I don’t want to force any of the components in case that is not the way to do it and I end up damaging the wheel/horn.
Anyone been down this path before and can enlighten me?
Its going back a few years for me, but I think the crash pad is just held on with velcro, and it comes off with the horn button. The Allen bolts seem to be just decorative.
Many thanks - I’ve now got the crash pad off. It was really tightly fixed and took some persuading! The velro method of fixing wasn’t at all obvious, so your advice was most helpful.
I did some continuity tests on the horn wiring system and narrowed the problem down to the wire from the horn to the relay (green/orange). Further continuity test on that part of the system revealed that the problem was the brass wiper pin which seemed to be seized and not moving freely on the slip ring ( car has not been used over the winter). A bit of lubrication and persuasion to free the wiper pin and the horn is working again. Thanks again for your help, - the text and photos were so useful.
