Hi all,
Wondering what people have done for a rear fog light on the mk1 that looks good.

My car currently has the rh reverse light conversion but I am looking at changing the rear lights to LED units that don’t have the fog in the cluster.
I really don’t like the OE lego brick on the bumper and don’t want to convert high level brake light.

Any other ideas that are UK legal?

Saw on a post from 2021 a photo of one with an LED strip on the bottom of the bumper but no idea where it was from. Guess that’s the kind of thing I’m looking for though.

Do you actually want a foglight or just want one for the MOT? Bolt a brick to the rear offside tiedown bracket. Fold up the foglight.

If you get the factory style rear valance, there are various options to build something into that.

Yeah I do want a foglight.
Think I might have to build a custom one for the rear bumper or something. Maybe find a universal fog and use it to make a custom one

Behind the bumper cover in the centre there is a flat spot on the crash beam that with careful cutting you can mount an LED Foglight I have used a motorsport rainlight / foglight.
I have a UK spec foglight switch installed in one of the blanks on the dashboard.

The UK-spec MX5 switch won’t have built in illuminination and will fail a MOT (the UK MX5s had a “foglight on” tell tale in the instrument pod) . The switch that is used is from an early pop-up light 323F. Its the same style, but with a built in telltale.
