Mk1 seats are knackered

I know enough to know my problem is a common one. But solutions seem rare - which is a surprise.

The seats are the main let down on my car and I’d pay a fair amount to sort that. But there doesn’t seem to be any recovering solutions for those that don’t want to add the weight and exsoense of a leather re-do.

Someone must offer a re-fabricing (sp?) service surley???

CTOAGUN.

P.S. If you happen to have a GOOD set of Mk1 1 seats which have the seat belt stalk attached for sale, or even possible sale, please do PM me

I to need to know the whereabouts of someone who recovers seats at a not too expensive price

                                 cheers Ken

I believe Jack Smith also does seats.

I recently found a set of passenger seat covers from a left hand drive car. Of course they replaced my worn drivers seat but had minimal wear. Have look on Ebay here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mazda-MX5-MK1-Miata-Roadster-Eunos-Driver-R-H-Cloth-Seat-Cover-1989-1994-/131573691022?hash=item1ea267328e

Only one set left.

I think it’s the case that when people buy MK1s to sell for parts they often leave the cloth seats in them as there appears to a lack of demand as against leather seats. When I have seen them for sale they’re often being sold for around £50 a pair, so on that basis I think you’d be better off looking on ebay or putting a wanted add on this site or on Facebook sites, than go to the expense of having them recovered.

Can’t imagine that leather ones weigh a huge amount more?

If you decide to upgrade to leather, I have a set of Dakar special edition ones with door cards in Tadcaster !!

ou may think me odd but I’m rather fond of my (Eunos) head-rest speakers. Actually the door speakers don’t work and I haven’t got around to fixing them yet

I think your Daker seats are without speakers?

Thanks.

Thanks for that. But some of his pics show a pretty tired cover.

I bought a seat cover from that seller on eBay recently and it was superb - looked almost new. It was a hell of a job (for me on my own) to get the original off and new one on but was worth it in the end.
By the way I offered £10 less than the list price and it was accepted

Any automotive trimmer should be able to do what you want. I had mine repaired recently without any problem. The ebay seller from Germany with the driver seat replacement covers gets very good reviews from anyone who’s bought them. The original cloth covers are also still available from mazda if you don’t mind paying. But if you want the seats back to ‘as new’ for peanuts, you’ll probably be looking for a long time without success.
