After an attempted hotwire of my car the steering wheel is now sitting 1-2cm to the left of the centre so that unit the stalks come out from is too close to one side of the dash. I assume from their attempts to break the steering lock.
Can anyone shed any light on how this can be adjusted back? It will not easily move, are there some bolts somewhere that can be loosened off so I can recentralise the position of it?
I need to replace the ignition switch and barrel too as after rewiring it the barrel is broken (had this confirmed by an auto electrician) does anyone know if there could be any other damage?
Sounds like something is broken or bent, you really need to inspect it thoroughly or have it inspected. I doubt anyone could confidently say what’s wrong with it from a written description.
Most likely the column will be twisted as I see this all the time following attempted/thefts.We have good used column,s in stock as well as ignition lock and plastic cowlings/covers if required. What year is your car as there are two types depending on year etc.PM me if your are interested, thanks. Robert. Try loosening the bolts as in pohoto above but the adjustment there is usually front to rear and not left to right as you need. Also the area around the ignition lock itself can be damaged/twisted and new lock may not sit nicely on it without replacing the coloum.Bits are cheap and postage is no problem
