MK1 - the bit below the stereo

…remember to use a permanent 12v, not switched!

unless you like resetting the clock all the time… Wink

Many thanks for he swift replay Peter - really appreciate it.

Just to confirm then…if the clock was the right way up then we have +12v permanent live (seperated slightly from the other 2 connections) then back light then ground.

Now I just need to work up the courage to chop a hole in the panel!

Hi Steve

That’s right, reading from the top: +12v perm,(gap) backlight, ground.

I cut my panel out with a dremel type cutter, it was very soft.

The bezel should cover up any slight imperfections!

Regards

That looks pretty damn good too!

Finally had a go…not the best of photos though.  Swapped out the original cassette deck that came with the California for a new Sony and installed a Renault 19 clock at the same time.

Had a job getting the eyeball vents out (thought the panel would come away first!) and getting the old radio out but plain sailing after that.

Only issue was that the clock didn’t light up so either a knackered bulb or my bad wiring (I connected the light terminal to one of the wires going to the astray light).  I also noticed after installation that the clock hands didn’t line up, the minute hand being 20 minutes behind the hour hand Sad.  Too cold now to take everything apart again but may do so when I change the gearlever boots (yet more spent at mx5parts!).

Hi Steve

I’m pretty sure the bezel on the clock just unclips which should give you access to the hands.

Hopefully you can then re-align them without taking clock out completely.

Hi jaquebullet, where did you take the permanent live feed from?

Live feed and earth from the radio loom (in mine, yellow was perm live and black was earth)
