MK2.5 Fog lights

I want to fit front fog lights to MK2.5 but don’t want to lay out lots of cash for something I’m hardly going to use (I just like the look instead of the black plastic hole fillers), I’ve heard that Picasso fog lights are the same size and can be picked up cheap on ebay.

Anybody tried fitting Piccaso or other types into their 2.5?

I have also heard the same and after some investigating found they are basically the same. I have since purchased a pair but have not fitted them as yet, will let you know how I get on.

I have had a chance to look at the fittings under the wheel arch and can confirm they will fit in the slot, they have to be screwed in.

I will hopefully fit them at the weekend and  let you know how I got on.

The next step is how to wire them and connect to a switch!!.

I may just leave them as a cosmetic upgrade

Regards

Robert

Thanks for info, I was going to wonder down to the local scrapyard next week and have a look around for a Picasso.

Let me know how you get on fitting lights.

Sorry to butt in mark, you might already know this but any lights fitted to a car have to be working or that’s an MOT failure [;)]

Just a heads up

lew, front fogs not part of mot, so not tested, goochie

I just bought a couple of new Citroen Picasso fog lights for mine. Less than £40 for both off Ebay. They’re made by DEPO and fit ok.The bumper mount has a locating pin and 3 holes for self tapping screws.

The power socket is the same as the original too.

Guys this is brilliant, can anyone who has done the picasso lights upgrade keep us posted on how you get on (pics would be lovely)

I’m going to seriously look into this - do none foglit Mk2.5 have the connections already on the loom or are we going to have to run our own wiring?  I know its not a major job (relay, switch, live, earth) but it’d be nice if the loom already had the connections and all we needed to do was hookup a switch and maybe a fuse.

I don’t know about the wiring loom. I’m having to replace mine because the bottom half of the bumper was destroyed in an accident.

Here’s what the mount looks like from behind. This is the offside one:

You can see the locating pin (top left) and the 3 screw holes. Which reminds me, I need to get some self tapping screws.

This is the nearside light, loosely fitted:

…and from the front:

The refurb bumper has yet to be cleaned, painted green and fitted to the car.

Thanks for pictures, this will help a lot when I come to fit mine.  [:D]

Finally completed fixing the fog lights today, they work OK, just need to get the beam sorted out when its dark.

i know the mark 3 has chrome spot light surrounds, but can you get them for a mk  2-5

Guys, MGZT Fogs also fit, just bought a pair on Ebay, they are Valeo and are same fitting.

Scooter MX5

I read with interest your fitting of Picasso Front fog light to your MX5. I to am planning to do likewise to my MK2.5.

Please advise, if possible, which Picasso light you used was it?

2000-2004 OE Part Number 6204AA or 2004-2010 OE Part Number 6206E1.

Your pictures are brilliant, but unfortunately the eBay sites are not as clear, so comparisions to your pictures is difficult.

I hope you can help

I think you will find the part you require is (2000-2004 OE Part Number 6204AA) it matches the kind I fitted to my Mk2.5

Arizona,

Have you got your fog lights wired up? Did you use an original Mazda switch or how did you wire them up as the original wiring as per Mazda is a pain in the butt.

Colin

Hi Colin

I used a Ring Prewired Fitting Kit and used the cigarette lighter wiring to get the power for the switch.

Hope that helps.

Robert

The ring prewired kit is great for all models. the Mk 2.5 fog light units are also the same  fittings as the MGTZ, X Jag , and citreon picasso, the only difference is the make of the unit and bulb fitting, the new bulb plugs can be bought on the bay of E for a couple of £’s to re-join back in for them to work.

I’ll be doing a how to on this soon.

Looking forward to that.  Will be very useful.
