MK2.5 Front Chassis Rails - Engine out or in?

Hi all,

The front chassis rails on my MX5 are pretty shocking and need replacing before the next MOT (December).  Can I leave the engine in situ or do I really need to remove it?

I know of several members who have had theirs done with the engine in.

And out. Depends on how advanced…eg near engine mounts but mostly in with available repair sections.
