MK2.5 Sport Remote Fob

I have just bought a 2002 VT Sport and only have 2 keys - no remote, the car is alarmed and has central locking, surly this should have had a remote or was this an extra. Can you get hold of a remote which will work with this alarm?

Any help please.

I started a new thread because you’ll probably get better/more responses - a lot of people would ignore the first one, thinking the problem was solved [Y]

Anyway,

Yes, I think you should have got a remote fob (but only one). Replacements are available, from Mazda themselves and of course eBay and the like, but tend to be quite expensive (especially from the former).

If you (recently) bought the car from a dealer, you might be able to get an arrangement with them, where they pay half or something…

I have the same problem with mine that i bought from sheffield last saturday… its a 2001 1.8 mk2.5, same thing with the central locking with keys but no keyfobs. I went to the mazda dealer today to ask if i should have remote keyfobs and she said no… also said no when i asked if it was possible to upgrade central locking to remote locking.

The sport models came with central locking as standard, but ‘standard’ (for want of a better word) models did not, so what Mazda said to you sounds about right - it is possible to upgrade though - there are various kits available, mx5parts.co.uk do one…

Yeah i saw that one on mx5parts, but i just couldnt live with those ugly keyfobs tbh :stuck_out_tongue: i’ll have a look on ebay, i got a decent remote central locking kit for my arosa from there, by rightclick or something. Thanks for reply
