Mk2 and Mk2.5 Recall

If that’s top and bottom of the story, then Mazda should issue a “Sorry - our mistake” note to all dealers and other agencies, or it’s “too humbling” to admit it?
Meanwhile we have Saz’s post about airbags to worry about, it’s time Mazda came clean on that issue.

Just checked on the MOT history site and the recall warning for the 1998 Mk2 is still showing advising to contact your Mazda dealer.

The Mazda Portal still shows a warning of a recall with no futher info as previous screen grab.

Just out of interest, in December I had an airbag replaced on my Impreza after getting a warning on the MOT history site. The local Subaru dealer replaced it, the letter from Subaru arrived before Christmas telling me of the recall.

I went on to the MOT site just before Christmas and the MOT site now advises no recal on the Subaru, therefore Subaru must have updated that specific VIN number on the Subaru recall system and that I assume has updated the MOT history system.

Yes, the recall notice is still there when I insert my car registration number. However, in view of no further info I’m now going to ignore it. My car is currently on a SORN notice so it makes no difference for now.

Stop worrying…

Sounds like an old recall (2003) that was stuck in the system that as added itself to the new way the DVLA delivers the recall system at MOT time, but “IF” it as been re-issued( which i doubt) info in the link below and advice if needed to the other half of the scene also that are happily driving around this country in JDM imports that will not get the flag up…

Keep smiling and enjoy.

I recall the when one of the Mitsubishi EVOs had an issue with automaticyawl control, Mitsubishi issued a worldwide recall that included tracking down the grey imports, to get an ECU reflash. If there was a serious defect (and suspension that could dump you in a hedge without warning is serious) found at this stage (and now, I think we are beyond arguing about parts prematurely wearing type defects), I would be confident Mazda will reach out to all owners, not just owners of UK spec cars. Such as the criminal airbags or defective seatbelt latches, if these ever crop up. The issue about Valeos being recalled on Mazdas but not other brands just gives you an insight into Mazda’s internal processes for identifying issues.

Has anyone else had a recall for their mk2? I’ve had one saying it is from today, I’ve got a mk2 1998 1.8 ‘S’ reg. Called Mazda and they don’t know what the recall is for.

It’ll probably be the front fog lamp recall. If you’ve not got front fog lamps you’re car won’t be affected. If your dealer contacts Mazda UK the recall can be “removed”.

Yes it is, got in touch with Mazda head office and that’s exactly what they told me, panic over haha!
