Mk2 lowering springs

Hi All

looking for advise and or recommendations on what is the best lowering springs to fit to my standard shocks on my 1.8 Mk2

I don’t want to lower the car more than 30mm purely for looks as in standard form looks a bit high with loads of gap in the wheel arches.

Also want to keep my stamdard shocks as they have only recently been replaced and perfectly serviceable.

I have been looking at Spax and Eibach springs which both drop the suspension 30mm?

would appreciate any views or experiences anyone has had with these or any other springs.

Thanks

Craig

I can’t comment on the MX5, but I have found eibach springs to be very nice and progressive on other cars.

Wheras the only time I used spax they were just too firm.

Just done exactly as you want, Eibach on standard shocks.

Very pleased, did it to lose the “4x4” look, ride is comfortable, perhaps a bit more " jiggerly?"  and I’m sure it’s my imagination, but it also feels more planted on the road. Though that could be new tyres and slightly wider wheels with a bit more offset!

The springs, esp. the rears took a few miles to settle and get the full drop.

After.

MX 5 on Eibach springs

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

Looks like just what I was looking for.

Was thinking the Eibach which state they only lower 25mm might not be enough but from the picture look spit on.

Did you have to reset any suspension/steering settings after you fitting them?

Thanks

Craig

Afraid I didn’t do the work myself, took one look at the rusted and seized nuts on the suspension and lost all my enthusiasm!

Chris at Mazda MX5 services in Kent did the work and he said the settings didn’t need doing, I’d had them done about a year before.

He preps race MX5’s so I’m happy to take his word, he thought the ride height change wasn’t enough to upset the geometry and the car drives fine, so I guess he’s right!

Should add, I’ve put another 500 miles on the car since the photo and the rear has “settled” a bit more.

Thanks to all your replies with help and advice.

Have now order a set of Eibach springs.

Hi
Have only just acquired a 1994 Eunos, which I appreciate isn’t a Mark 2 , but am still navigating my way round the forum. The car sits very low and is extremely firm. I assume its been lowered at some point. Does anyone now how easy it is to reverse to standard springs as I’m sure it is spoiling the ride atm.
Thankyou.
