Guys,
I could do with a spot of advice… my Mx-5’s mohair hood is in lovely condition (in fact I wonder if it’s new) but I’ve noticed it’s really quite hard to close it properly.
(In fact the button on the left hand latch won’t quite pop-and-lock into place - it pops out but not quite enough that it needs to be depressed to un-latch the hood. I’ve already tried twiddling the adjustment hexagonal nuts but that didn’t really make much difference)
But it’s not the latching that’s really the issue (though maybe it’s merely a symptom)… the real problem is that physically the closing the hood the last 5 or 6 inches is just so stiff that even getting the latches to lock on to the lugs takes quite a bit of effort. I thought it was the just the cold weather making the cloth stiff, but now it’s warmed up a bit, I’m not so sure.
It drops and lifts very easily apart from those last few inches
Is there anything I can adjust, or should I take it do my local Mazda garage?
