car is a 2010 Mk3 powershift with just 10.000 miles on clock.Starts and runs like a clock,or it DID?
TODAY When I turn the ignition key all I get is FOUR loud crack from the left hand side of engine, sounds exactly like a high voltage crack.
gauges go crazy, and every light in dashboard as well as highlight board light up.
Happens every time key is turned to start.
Thinking it could be High Electrical feed to plugs is possibly shorting out??
Havent got a clue what it could be,could really do with somehelp???![]()
With all due respect you are out your depth. I suggest you look up the phone number of the nearest Mazda dealer or a known and trusted local garage.
1st off, check you battery connections are clean and tight.
Then check the pos cable to the starter solenoid is clean, tight and isn’t burnt, the nut and ring terminal need particular attention.
Water ingress? Electrics, also the above, definitely a tow to your nearest specialist or get the AA out.
RAC arrived 0730 this morning…Battery failure, plate had cracked…although only 10,000miles,but guess 7 years takes its toll…the strange thing was for future reference, when my battery went, the normal indication of a flat battery, like slight clicking as solenoid trys to activate starter and lights dimming, none of that the noise was four loud electrical cracks from car very audible, all lights on dasboard lit up and guages went berserk.
With new battery in place and, Diff slip rest, the car is now as good as ever.
Just one other point, the RAC do an excellent readout of cars electrical systems abilty to absorb loads, any leakage at stop, plus a full read out of alternators state, mine were all top notch! But they go and spoilit by offering to fit a battery for (wait for it) £97 with 5 yr warrnty!!!
I politly said No,went across the road to my local Tesco Motor world, purchased exact same battery with 5 yr warranty plus £10 back on my old battery!!Total money which crossed palms £54!!! I leave you to do the maths and hopefully take the point!
For those members who tried to help thank you very much.![]()
