Having identified that my car’s knock sensor is faulty, is there an easy way to remove and replace it without dismantling the exhaust manifold etc. and avoid a hefty garage bill? Perhaps from beneath?

The MK3 knock sensor is in an awkward position under the inlet manifold.
Regrettably the inlet manifold will need to be removed to get to it.
Make sure that the sensor is definitely gone.
