Mk3 Alcantara dash top?

has anyone covered the dash top and maybe the A pillars with alcantara?  I’m pretty keen to do this as it’s a pretty cheap bit of plastic and I think it would give the interior a bit of a makeover.   

I’ve seen an instrument binicle done but it looks a bit like a pea on a drum to me

I’d be worried that it would collect dirt in an open top.

At least with the plastic it can be wiped and polished.
