MK3 Boot not opening on remote or switch in car

I have a 2008 NC and this morning the boot was opening on the remote and button in the car but its suddenly stopped working.
Remote opens and locks the doors with no issue.
When I press the boot release on the key or in the car there is a clicking from the boot and you can see the mechanism to unlock it moving slightly but obviously not enough.
No problem getting in with the key.

There is some wiring for the boot release in the passenger footwell. You don’t have a water ingress there through the screw inserts an the bottom of the windscreen that’s got into some wiring connectors. Or it could be a failed solenoid.

Thanks Robbie, first thing I fixed when I got the car was was the blocks that usually leak under the screen so hopefully not that.
I can see the boot release moving a little so may just be something as simple as a solenoid. hopefully when the weathers better I can strip the boot liner off and see if I can see anything amiss near the lock.
Do you know if the solenoid is actually in the boot ?

Yes, the solenoid is with the boot latch.
