Hello,
I have an 06 Mk3 2.0 which had no emissions issues at all prior to the following.
I have fitted an IL 4 in 1 manifold, a Go Perform centre section with sports cat and a Go Perform back box.
I have read on many forums about cars with similar set ups which do pass the CO test for an MOT. My car will not pass, it can get close, but it wont pass. I have got it very hot, there are no leaks, I have been through everything.
I have been told to get a standard MK3 centre cat to replace the sports cat (i threw away the original cat… bad move!), and that should sort it. However, I love the car the way it is in terms of responsiveness, its upgraded power and how loud it is as I am a child. How are other people getting away with the above, is there a better sports cat I should have bought? I want it right, rather than just ‘use a friendly MOT tester’ line. Or, will replacing the sports cat with an original, and keeping the manifold and back box not really have any impact on its performance?
Any advice from those in a similar situation would be great,
cheers
Ooh, I’m just in the process of researching this exact mod…
I’m keen to free up any trapped ponies, but don’t want problems come MOT time…
I’ll be keen to see what the answer is…
(If anyone has any tips on best places to buy I’d be greatful.)
Al.
First question what cat did you get
second how can you cope I had the same setup and it was deafening but then I did find out after I had a 100 cell cat
i ended up having to get a new cat fitted and replace the goperform one and then I got it passd
don’t trust that go perform have fitted the correct one and don’t expect any customer support off them
Hello TFR#81
I have no experience of Go Perform products.
My previous 2006 2 litre Sport was fitted by Roddisons Motorsport with a Racing Beat manifold,
Roddison 200 cell cat centre section, King Cobra back box. It passed 3 MOT’s but it had to be
roaring hot! Fortunately my MOT guy understood the situation.
My current 2014 2 litre Sport Tech Recaro fitted with a IL motorsport manifold & Roddison back box
has just been fitted with a Roddison 200 cell cat centre section, replacing the O/E exhaust.
It is just possible the 20k mile O/E cat & centre section exhaust may, I stress may be available.
Give Paul a call 0114 244 5300 Sheffield S9 1US he will give sound advice.
Regards
Keith
ps. Did you have the ECU settings adjusted when you had the Go Perform centre section exhaust fitted?
Thanks for the replies.
I bought the 200 cell cat from Clive @ Autotronix as I couldnt get through to Go Perform directly, then had it fitted by BC Cars who did a great job.
I have got it mega hot but it still wont pass. I haven’t relocated the second O2 sensor yet so the EML light is still on, would this be changing the mixture and causing it to read high? If I un do the battery, the EML light will then stay off for about half an hour before it comes back on, it might be worth trying the car on the CO machine like this, and if it passes, know that I just need to get the O2 sensor re located (or maybe it isnt that simple)
Yes I did have the car re-mapped, and the guy who did it promised me the EML light would not come back on, but still it did. Maybe it could be that it has been re-mapped wrongly causing the higher CO readout?
I dont want to buy a different cat if I dont have to, and as there are plenty of people who seem to have the same set up as me that do pass an MOT, I am looking at other reasons why mine might be struggling.
cheers
Maybe a visit to Clive is in order
If mapped correctly the 2nd O2 sensor is deleted out of the system so it’s irrelevant
