Only had my MK3 2007 Sport for a few months, it had done 1500 miles in last 5 years (before I bought it), so air-con needs recharging. Are the DIY recharge kits worth using, if so are they relatively easy to administer. Thanks.
Don’t waste time and money and get it done properly. You need whatever is left in the system purged before recharging. A garage near me checks the system for free before carrying out any work to check if it’s worth doing. Maybe a local search would find someone similar.
Thanks Davy, much appreciated. Always get my VW gassed at the garage, but saw a kit and wondered how easy it was. Its due for MOT shortly, so when time is right, Ill get the gas topped up. Thanks again.
Did mine on my 2006 decided I wouldn’t pay money to get aircon working so was given a free diy kit from work, topped it up and the aircon kicked back in. That was last year and still working. But do agree for money spent on a diy might as well take it to a garage to have it done properly.
Plus they will o a leak test…no point doing it if you have a leak
Thanks Phil, much appreciated.
Thanks Bruce, much appreciated.
As others have said get it done professionally. More important than the recharge is the leak test. Without first checking for leaks any recharge may well leak off.
