I have my 2006 NC Sport with me in Athens. Yesterday I thumped the N/S front bumper/nose cone in a low speed shunt. It has pushed the LH headlight into the bumper and shattered the mount. The front end is pushed inward and the bonnet does not shut as tightly as it did. I need to get the bumper/nose cone off to straighten it up and replace the light so I can ferry the car back to the UK for repairs. Can any one tell me how to remove the bumper and where I could source a headlamp assy from (other than Mazda which is way too expensive)? Shipping it out is no problem as my daughter works for UPS.
Its all just bolted on with bolts along the top and in the wheel arches. Its a very simple removal it just takes time to undo all the bolts.
You need to remove all the plastic fixings in the wheel arch and there is a bolt up inside that needs removing. If yours is a standard MK3 grill, there are two bits of black plastic in the grill that pop out to reveal two hidden bolts.
Thank you all for you response. I managed to find an official Mazda .pdf instruction sheet on the Miata.net site which backs up what you have said.
Would you post a link to the PDF please, I would find it useful for changing the grille for a stainless one.
Many thanks

Hi
I have just been reading through this post regarding changing your headlamp unit, and I was wondering if you could help me?
I need to change my headlights in order for me to register my car in France. I have a 2007 mk3 from the UK and I need to know if I need to remove the bumper to get to the headlights and if I do, how?
Any help with this would be great and if you could send me a link for a guide or walk through on how to do it that would also be great, as the links above don’t seem to be working for me.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike
Sorry but the insurance company trucked the car back to the UK for me so I never did do the job myself. I think it is easier and far cheaper to use the stick on beam deflectors if the stay is short term. If not then access through the wheel arch seems favourite. I am about to replace the headlamp bulbs with 100% brighter ones so if I see anything that may be of help I will let you know.

Hi Mike,
I fitted a stainless grille in replacement for the horrid plastic honeycomb and used these excellent instructions, courtesy of member of MiataNet, as the ones that came with the product were a very bad chinese translation.
It was straightforward, a couple of the bolts inside the wheel arch are fiddly and at a spanner angle you arn’t quite expecting. I put the car on blocks and removed the wheels, but if I did it again I would just put them on full lock to get access to the wheel arch.
Why not replace your grille whilst the bumper is off?
Good luck
