MK3 side tonneau covers

Hi, I’m a new MX5 owner and was looking at this product to help keep road dirt out: http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/cloth-side-tonneau-covers-black-mazda-mk3-35-p-1326.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=googleshopping&utm_campaign=googlebase&gclid=CjwKEAjwgtTJBRDRmd6ZtLrGyxwSJAA7Fy-h74QRR3FYALHapUSQU-iT5xQ_yuM3k0uNYqLq30GvqhoCDtLw_wcB

Has anyone purchased these and if so what’s required to fit them and how straightforward is it and most important, are they any good?

many thanks

Steve

Considered them myself but I can’t really say how worthwhile they are. Apparently once the brackets are fitted they are easy enough to fit and remove, which is obviously needed when the hood goes up.

As with most ‘5’ genuine accessories they are expensive for what they are, but they do fill a the silly space at either side of the stored hood but they should have been standard. Instructions come with the item and it took me about 20 minutes max to fit them.

As my car lives 95% of its life with its hood down I fitted these. Quite easy to fit as I recall but needs a bit of the plastic trim removing then replacing. The supplied instructions were good enough that even I managed it without assistance. I found that to get the brackets fitted rigidly I added some extra washers to the bolts.

I consider that the spaces either side of the folded hood look better covered and they keep falling leaves, blossom and other assorted debris out. They are easily removed, though unless you are possibly extraordinarily flexible this has to be done from outside of the car, as does putting them in place.

Agree with Vindaloo, as expected, a fair bit of money for what they are but at the time were cheaper from MX5parts than dealer.

Thanks for the response. Is it necessary to drill holes in the car anywhere to fit them; not great at diy that might pose a risk of damage.
Thanks

No drilling required.

Thanks

No drilling required, the holes are already there, you will see them when you remove the trim.

That’s great, many thanks

I’ve got these, they tidy things up really nicely.  I got them for £35 second hand, including the brackets needed.  I say brackets - it’s just a holder for a tenax stud that fixes near to the style bars.  Don’t be tempted to buy a second hand pair without these, I’d doubt you ever find a pair seperately.  Expensive new for what they are, but once purchased, I don’t thinkyou’ll regret it. Once you’ve got the brackets fitted, they take seconds to put on or remove.

Hi, thanks for the clarification. Will look on eBay
