MK3 wheel arch trim clips

I had the front bumper off at the weekend, and found a few of the trim clips under the wheel arch were difficult to get off.

I found these today. http://www.beal.org.uk/automotive/trim-clips/trim-clips-push-rivets-nissan-mazda/prod_2850.html

1 pack of 50 ordered.

0.65p each at Mx5parts, do the maths.

Got to be a bargain.

I work at Beal UK, and got them at cost price, worked out a lot less than £0.15p

Although to be fair, i could have had a few loose ones out of the bottom of the box for free.

Do they do the smaller one at the bottom of the rear wheel arch? It clips the the sill trim (Mk3) to the arch lip. I removed mine for cleaning and undersealing but it got a bit mangled. I used another size but had to shave it down to fit.

Mick.

We have about 30 different clips.

If you can send me a link to a picture of one i’ll take a look for you.

Alternatively, I’ll take a look at mine at the weekend and see if i can identify it.

Can do better than that, below is a pic of the actual clip, the good one from the other side.

To compare I had a trim clip, the one they use to hold the plastic boot lining trim in place. The clip I need is on the right, measures 11mm dia and the shank part 20mm

As said it holds the rear part of the sill trim to the bottom of the wheel arch.

If you can get these, great. Thanks for looking

When I got home, I decided to take one of mine out.

The one on the drivers side has all but disintegrated, so I thought “I’ll take the one from the other side”

This broke when I was taking it out.

I know now that we don’t have this exact pin, however, I’ll see if there is anything almost like it tomorrow

Maybe this with a 14mm head.

or this with a 10mm head.

but there are others to choose from

Mick.

About the best I could find is this one.

It’s not exactly the one we need, but the dimensions are close.

If your’e a concourse purist, then it’s probably no good to you.

However, if you’re like me, so long as it looks the part and does the job, then i’ll send you a few in the post.

Call it a free sample ???

PM me your address.

Yep the last one you posted, the one above I’ll give them a go.

So long as it does the job, it’s fine by me.

I’ll pay for postage or send a self addressed envelope with stamps on if you like.

Many thanks.

I tried them on mine. It wasnt tight, so I’m going to try a different one.
I did just about get one of those larger ones to fit, but had to skim a bit off it to get it in. Ooo er.

Bit of a pain for such a little thing. I had to trim a larger one to make it fit, not ideal.

Anyway, if you find anything suitable that’s great.

Isn`t there something suitable amongst this lot?http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2060778.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.Xmazda+trim+clips&_nkw=mazda+trim+clips&_sacat=0

Some of these ebay sellers buy from us to sell on Ebay.

Mick.

I’ve pulled a different one this morning, I’ll keep you posted.

Top man

HI, Sorry for butting in but I seem to have lost the plot here, are all the clips on the MX5 the same for the wheel

arch boot carpet or wherever they are used on or in the car and if so is it this one ?

Thanks

Ned

I can probably see your confusion with mentioning trim clips and boot trim clips etc.

If you look at a Mk3 rear wheel arch, on the outside bodywork on the lower part of the arch lip there is a plastic stud/clip, this clips the end of the outer plastic sill covering to the arch lip. It’s smaller than the rest of the studs/clips on the car, see pic in post above.

It’s only a plastic clip but it seems the usual suppliers of mx5 parts don’t have them, although I’ve not tried the dealers yet.

Not only is it different to the standard wheel arch stud, it’s also a bit on an oddball size.

I’ve tried 3 different push rivets now and can’t get any to fit nice, although to be fair, none of them were intended to fit the MX5.

I’ve taken two more from the shelf today, one is a removable one, and one is one of those designed to be tricky to get out.

I’m determined to find something from stock, rather than buying any in (it’s a Yorkshire thing)
