Needed to replace my battery could not find anything related to this in the hand book ,
So telephoned local Mazda dealership for Radio
Code because I needed to disconnect the battery and replace it , they informed last 4 digits of VIN , changed my mind and took it to the local battery specialist to be fitted with a new one , I asked about saving the code no need he said on newer vehicles , he was right and did not charge me for fitting unlike Halfords who where £20 dearer for a 2 years warranty battery but also wanted £18 to fit.
By the way my MX is 2018
I’ll be interested to hear how your new battery holds charge over the Winter. If it gets really cold I still plug my 2016 ND in to the battery conditioner/trickle charge, as I had a couple of bad experiences, as I commented on under ice etc. The battery was tested and is fine. I took the ND out every day this week(after a lay off of several weeks and it started on the button - shame about the mud to wash off the bodywork!
Happy New Year all!
No issues disconnecting an ND battery, I’ve disconnected mine doing various jobs plenty of times.
Hi Elaine
Will let you know after this winter , although I live in Devon on the coast so not a lot of frost .
I do not use my ND very much so I was wondering , can you leave the Batty disconnect for a long period with out the car losing its memory.
I wouldn’t recommend leaving the battery disconnected for long periods of time, if possible its much better to have it on a maintenance charger. I too don’t use my ND very much, especially in the winter so it often sits on its CTEK charger in the garage (where it is now).
Never dared try it! Suspect it would cause more probs than enduring the loss of charge, which seems so bad in cold weather. I live in a frost pocket on a very small hill with winds from Siberia - I keep a little, safe oil filled heater near the car in the garage! I too use my trusty CTEK to alleviate the effects of the East Anglian climate on my MD.
Cheers.
