Can anyone confirm that the DAB radio in the ND should display track text from the staion? all the DAB radios I’ve had in the past have done this, even cheap DAB/FM adaptors.
All I get on the screen is the name of the station I’m tuned into.

I don’t believe it does
On the odd occasion I have listened to a DAB station (poor coverage up here) I don’t recall seeing this, it does a static display of the track on FM.
That’s really strange, DAB has had this function for about 10 years and when i bought a cheap £60 adaptor for my Accord it done it, granted not every station does this but most do.
On my ND Sport it displays track information on the BBC DAB radio stations, but not independent DAB stations.
On my 2015 Suzuki Swift Sport it displays track information on BBC and independent DAB Stations, the radio and sat nav is also voice activated and the sat nav is extremely easy to use and it recognises all post codes. The car was 2/3rds the price of the ND Sport
I’ve just run a comparison on DAB with Classic FM on my ND and my indoor Hi-Fi tuner and I get the same track info on them both. I also tried it on other stations and found that if there was info on my tuner there was the same info on the ND. Likewise, no info on tuner, no info on ND. Are you able to do a similar check using indoor tuner and car? Signal strength very strong round here, maybe you have a weak signal where you are? It would be a good idea if you could add the info to your profile it proves invaluable when seeking advice and help. Great!
I checked where the mast for our area and I’m a mile away from it, signal is always great. tried a few stations again today and nothing, done a search and it appears some people on the mazda 3 forum have the same issue and Mazda say they are working on a fix.
Have you done a check by using the car and another DAB receiver like I did? Also don’t forget that not all DAB stations give text info.
Hi Suntzu30 have you had any luck with your Dab text? I have the same problem, I have picked it up 3 times so far but driving to same road doesn’t mean I get it back after it’s lost. It seems to stay once I’ve got it but if I change stations it’s lost and if I go to usb music and bad it’s lost. I used to have a Kenwood dab radio where I had to fit an amplified Arial to the windscreen and that always picked up text every single time from all stations. This system on the MX5-RF is a big let down.
Mine works since software updated to 59.0.502

I’m on the previous version and happy not to move up just yet, I’ll check with some friends who have updated and see if they have had success like you. Thanks
I never got to the bottom of it, some stations it works on and some not.
I’ve seen online something about different standards for sending that info so assumed the stations were using a format not compatible with the mazda DAB system
It’s mostly there on mine, but sometimes drops out for no apparent reason and doesn’t come back for ages. It’s possibly related to signal strength.
On a sort of related note, I noticed recently that the navigation system is now doing traffic information without a subscription or being tethered to a phone, which I thought were both required.
Same experience with the Live Traffic after Infotainment update in September. No subscription and never tethered,
My 2016 Mazda MX5 ND has :-
OS Version 56.00.100 EU N
Music Database Version 00.05.000
Failsafe Version 56.00.100
The DAB radio does show information text about tracks being played.
My wifes 2017 Mazda 3 Sport Nav has:-
OS Version 59.00.443 EU N
Music Database Version 00.07.000
Failsafe Version 59.00.443
The DAB radio does NOT show information text about tracks being played.
Interesting to note that version 59.00.502 mention by “ThorntonMark” should solve the problem in the our new Mazda 3.
Would have thought Music Database Versions would be more relevant to Music track text than the Operating System, but must say that I really am not technically competent in these matters and it could be that the one software update does both OS Version & Music database Version update.
Can anyone advise me if the software updates are different for the OS and the Music Database and should the Dealerships automatically include OS & Music Database software updates in annual Services?
AFAIK the OS updates are not done automatically but if you ask nicely and mention “an issue with the system” they’ll do it - at least mine does.
The music database updates are separate I think - my car doesn’t have one (unit is much faster without it if you have a USB stick plugged in) and it didn’t reappear after the last OS update. DAB track display behaviour was no different with or without it.
Just a reply to say that my wifes Mazda 3 sportnav had its 1st service 27 June and I requested Version 59.00.443 be replaced by 59.00.502 as advised by ThorntonMark 5 months ago. The Ford Trust service facility that also provides Mazda servicing kindly obliged.
It worked. Provided that there is a good signal I now get info on the screen about DJ & programme name, song & artist name and anything else the radio station sends.
Hardly made a massive change to my life for the better, but a big thanks ThorntonMark and of course Ford Trust
My RF goes in on the 12th for its first service and I’m having 502 loaded on mine too as it seems to be the answer. Will have to see if my mazda tweaks work afterwards ?? here’s hoping.
