Mk4 Headlight Adjustment for touring Europe

I have just bought a new Mk4 MX5 with the intention of a European Tour later this year.  Eagerly read the manuals, can you believe that! but cannot find if there is a way to electronically switch the lights from LHD to RHD?  I have the High Beam Control (HBC) feature fitted.  Any advice would be welcomed.

Love the car, only problem is getting the good lady out of it so I can have a go???

Thanks

They have a flat beam pattern so no adjustment is needed.

Is it the same for the mark 3

No, you need plastic beam deflectors on the Mk3.

Thanks Guys - big help - what a resource the MX5 Owners Club is, great.

I was told by a Mazda UK tec person that as long as you have got the Europe maps on the sat nav. free for three years, then the car lights  adjusts to right hand driving once on the continent.

Hhmm…

If that’s true it would mean the “Non-Nav” models would have to be adjusted somehow.  Doesn’t seem logical to me.   But then again logic doesn’t seem to apply in cases such as this does it?

On a MK3 you turn the lights down with the knurled knob.

But they still point the wrong way when on dipped beam on the continent.

Beam deflectors (or in my case bits of black tape) ARE required.

Well -
We drove an NBFL in France with dipped beam lights cranked down, (-2 clicks) and no-one flashed at us. On mine, the only light which kicks up on the left side is the normal (UK) nearside, and that didn’t seem to incur any aggro. At night on deserted roads, we used high beam, but shut them down as soon as we saw a car approaching us. I do the same here, but rarely use them.

Long story, but I won’t bore you all with it.

No they dont, the law says they should not dazzle other road users, turn them down & they wont.

If you have an accident and don’t have them fitted the other driver can easily blame you and it could be tough to disprove.

They only cost a few pounds, are easy to fit and avoid potential arguments.

(and I don’t believe the SAT NAV feature - what if you turn it off or lose signal? Do the lights switch back !!!)
