Hi, this is my first post here! I’ve just been quoted c. £400 for repairing my power steering. They’ve told me that basically all the pipes are gone. I knew at least one was, as refilling the fluid only restored power steering for about five minutes (plus I could see the leaked fluid under the car; couldn’t actually locate the leak tho’). Is this a reasonable quote? I’m only really asking 'cause right now I can’t afford that much, and I need to consider shopping around for a cheaper alternative… if that’s viable/likely? Find out exactly which component, or plural have actually failed.
There’s metal ones known to corrode, and rubber ones.
Then call them.

Can’t say it’s steep or whatever but if Prestige can sell you a complete used G’teed kit, it may save a bunch in parts if not labour.
Hi Seb. It might be worth pricing the pipes you need from MX5 parts on here,then factoring in a couple of hours labour at garage rates. Not too difficult a job,especially if you have access to ramps or a pit. Good luck
