If you had the engine out, and you were to do only 1 modification, what would it be?

Once I took the wrong boat on water.
Not much to tell, just take it out from the top ![]()
I tried to take out the engine bay as little as possible. 8 left the ECU, fuse box, coolant tank all that jazz. Once the coolant pipes are out the way you can tilt that engine and it’s out.
To answer my own question
a mod I’m about to do is changing the bushes on the steering rack. I had bought a complete kit of poly bushes from Energy, and it also included the steering rack bushes, but it was an absolute ball ache to do it with the engine in the car so I kept them in a draw. Now it’s perfect ![]()
So you have taken t engine out to replace the steering bushes! Respect to that. One question how much head room and what reach / rise did you need on your engine hoist to clear the car?
No I’m not that delirious. I’ve applied the “whilst I’m in here” rule.
I think about 7 ft maybe, with the added tilt attached maybe a bit higher. I have that kayak on top it was very touch and go.
Aha thanks so much, you have encouraged me to know it is possible to bring it out of the top.
It is. I think I might leave the rocker cover off and drop it in without it, I did find the rocker cover was ever so slightly scraping on the back. You need to tilt the rear down and front up as much as you can and it will come out. Also the trans bolts, the ones on the top, if you take off the engine mounts and drop the engine and the gearbox low as you can, you then have access to the top bolts with a U Joint.
