Hi Folks, any recommendations? I can’t use the MX5 OC discount insurer as I do 12k miles.
Looking for an insurer who copes well with mods.
Try Sterling.
Admiral was ok for me on the mods, my NC was lowered, different exhaust (back box/manifold) and an engine tune to 180bhp. Other stuff declared too like head unit and steering wheel refurb/recovered.
They only seemed interested in how much it was lowered and how much of an increase in bhp it had.
I’m not with them any longer, the prices seem to increase too much year by year. That wasn’t only on the MX-5 but also on my bog standard daily driver and home insurance with them.
It’s worth getting a quote all the same, new customers seem to get cheaper insurance but it shouldn’t be like that now I think.
I’ve moved over to Aviva Zero now for both cars (no mods like the previous MX-5) excellent price, but of course who knows what they are like price wise next renewal or if a claim is made?
I’ve just renewed with Aviva and the price has gone down by £25, an intake mod declared made no difference.
I have a BBR Supercharger on my MX-5, and the only insurers who were really interested in quoting were Adrian Flux and Greenlight. Which is cheaper varies from year to year!
Hi.
Please feel free to give us a try for insurance if you wish.
Regards,
Dan,
I’m with Adrian Flux for both my daily driver and my MX5, both have some mods all of which were no problem at all for them.
Can highly recommend Howden, previously known as A Plan,go direct to their main head office branch
I have an NA with minimal mods but try compare the market and have your wits about you when checking the quotes.
I’m with Hiscox through Grove & Dean as the broker.
