Generally speaking I back off when people reject my advice but in this instance I will defend my suggestion.
Check out the reviews - ‘stormsure review’ on google will do it. The expensive kit with material is a similar glue/adhesive(if you are lucky) with material that you could glean from your own softtop.
I have used this stuff myself on a cloth MX5 roof, hence the recommendation. My only issue was that it was one use only but thank you for prompting me to read further into this. Apparently if stored in a freezer it will last a long while after opening, not that one expect much for a couple of quid.
Please do us the favour of reporting back on the efficacy of the kit you have purchased.
If you have already ordered the other kit there is little point in pursuing any other avenue.
I have just taken a look at the cloth top on our eunos in the dark and the obvious area is at the top of the rear seams either side of the rear window, although different tops and a bit more time and light to look may produce a better/alternative sources.
You do not have the car yet, so difficult to discuss contructively. I would not bother with any material for a 2 - 3 mm hole.
Put a piece of anything on the INSIDE of the hood, I used a bit of old mohair roof and glued on with fabric glue. Still going strong several years later.

The kit arrived & looks very good. The fabric that comes with the kit has a different pattern on each side, so you get a choise of 2 patterns to match the hood to be repaired. It also has a small bag of mohair ‘dust’ to add to the glue and blend the repair.
