Hi Andy,
And welcome to the Solent MX5 Owners Club as regards MX5 servicing I highly recommend Dr MX5 there was some adverse publicity a little while ago caused by one person, please disregard that as he is an excellent to garage to deal with. Hope to see you in the near future on some runs, I hope you get it all sorted, oh by the way your car looks exactly the same as mine in the same colour.
Regards Terry Botto Solent area coordinator with a Mal Rowland
I haven’t personally dealt with Dr MX5 but the previous owner of my car had the sills and arches done by him and I have to say it was done to a very high standard.
The principal of Groupon is for a business to gain exposure to more customers in the hope of future business. The average fee from Groupon is 70% or everytime I have looked at it, it has been that. Take the vat out and the garage would receive £10, which about covers the mechanic fetching the car into the workshop and opening the bonnet. I am not surprised they were happy to use your oil.
Another vote for Julian at DoctorMX5. You’ll find one local owner who conducted an online vendetta against him, but that was a personality thing that got out of hand, I suspect. He’s a specialist - a great guy, and does good work.
Alternatively, how about MX5parts? - a bit closer to you, in Portsmouth PO4 8SZ
Absolutely agree with what has been said by other Solent Area Members on this thread.
Dr MX5 has a wealth of MX5 knowledge and conducts excellent work and I would recommend him to anybody for servicing, technical issues and welding work.
We are members of Solent MX5OC although we live just north of Guildford, on Mal & Terry’s recommendation with our previous Mk3 we used Julian, Dr MX5 and he was great. It was well worth the trips to and from him and the work he carried out was excellent.
We can’t recommend him enough and we hope this helps you with your decision.
