Motor Mods

Anybody heard or used a company called “Motor Mods”… they quoted me £255 to put lumbar into my sports leather drivers seats… (£405 for both)

You can introduce some DIY lumber support reasonably cheaply on the standard seats. I used 2 cut down number plates and some memory foam. If you want details of how to do it just shout up.

Just worried about making a mess especially with heated seats being there also…

There is no danger of making a mess as you do not have to remove or change anything.

There are 2 zips in the back of each seat with the zip openers at the bottom. The ends may take some fishing out. You unzip each one and release the cover at the bottom. It is just hooked over at the lower edge.
You can now see inside the seat behind the backrest. At each side there is the vertical metal frame that is formed by U shaped metal. You cut a piece of plastic (old number plates are ideal) or plywood to a length that will slot firmly into the vertical U shaped metal. You need to slot one side into the U and then flex/bend it so the other side will drop into the U on the other side and so be trapped. I used 2 number plates one on top of the other so I could get the support where I needed it.
Now you can put memory foam between the seat cloth and the newly fitted supports. I found a ‘P’ shaped neck pillow was ideal for us. What you use and how much is down to experiment to achieve your personal preference.
Easy to do and easy to remove.

Ok I’ll have a look over the weekend and see what is needed…Thanks

Also an inflatable lumber support will fit nicely. Check out Amazon.

Lumber support eh ? Any favourites - elm , oak , or perhaps balsa for Colin Chapman disciples ?

Just an opinion.
As a guess an ND?

I see the company put an electric pump air bladder/switch gear in each seat.
As above will install by unzipping etc etc.
So that and the labour will be where the expense is.

The “thing is” this.
From experience on my Volvo (and other cars owned) you will set the support to a level that suits you all day long.
Adjustable ones are fitted for the obvious world wide market for various heights, weights etc.
So to actually have an adjustable one just seems pointless perhaps.:man_shrugging:

Mad_Malc’s idea/approach looks worth a punt and makes sense. As he says will look OEM too.

All a matter for your good self. :+1:

Yes ND RF… gonna try the memory foam thing… Will have a look the weekend to see what I need…

I used the pump up bladders that are used to lift doors when you are hanging them
can’t remember the size you need tho
