oh dear my heart just sunk to the pit of my stomach … how do you sleep
Yeh I had who is now my ex wife bleating on about “clutter”
Add to my stereo…
Panasonic 65" tv
Q Acoustic soundbar (normal tv viewing)
oppo blu ray player
Panasonic ultra 4k player
Yamaha flagship cinema amp (used only for film)
7 Dali speakers and a REL sub
Oh and I sold a monster of an amp last year… Denon avc a1xv cinema amp weighing 46kg ! and back in 2005 I could have bought a decent 2nd hand car for what this baby cost… still got good money when I sold.
I’m listening to Pulse at recommended loudness with full surround right now. Not the ultimate highest of fi on a THX certified system set up for immaculate cinema sound, but then recently my old ears have become not quite so hi on the fi either and I no longer miss the (measured) gentle drop-off above 12KHz like I did when I first bought the system.
Proper surround, with multiple speakers correctly set-up and aimed from the right places in the right shape of room with careful attention to optimising the acoustics, is so much better than any overhyped soundbar.
Certainly agree with the soundbar comment.
I’m on AirPods Pro, the wife’s a bit (actually a lot) deaf and has the cr#p telly she watches quite loud and the noise cancelling on them is brilliant (thank god).
I could just go to another room but then get accused of being antisocial
Thank god the end of lockdown is imminent, the weathers improving, and I can escape…
For some reason over the last few weeks I have been playing regularly some of the old Roxy music stuff. Particularly on repeat is ‘if there is something’ . The sax solo by Andy Mackay is mesmerisingly addictive.
“I would put roses round our door, sit in the garden, growing potatoes by the score”. Pure class
Claim to fame here! Met Bernie Marsden on quite a few occasions… The guy I was working for used to supply and fit the tyres to his cars…! Saw him a couple of times at MK Stables with his own band too!
And they were offered huge amounts of money by a well known toilet roll maker to use this song for their advertising - so far this request has been refused…!
