Was that 1984? I hitchhiked to Hamburg with my girlfriend and saw The Cure and The Associates in the p&&&ing rain around May time. We both looked awesomely godlike, soaked to the skin - back then.
on the journey we got a lift in a humongous Benz from a couple on their way to a funeral. It was the first time I’d seen a carphone (about the size of a modern microwave).
