Musicals...Love Them or Hate Them?

“Worked on West End Shows making Costumes”

Hats off to this lady :tophat: because I was useless at school [made only 2 garments in 3 years…School Report ‘Lacks Interest’. In the final year I had to do this subject I forced myself to learn all the stitches etc and came 3rd in the Class. Needlework teacher ‘Oh are you sure you don’t want to do a GCE in Needlework’…er no. School Report: ‘Capable…but Lacks Interest’
But when I see nowadays the marvelous costumes produced I shouldn’t have shown more interest !

“One Musical that will always stay with me” :hugs:

With you on that one Art :handshake: [Lost my husband aged 43 yrs to suicide (? Open Verdict) and all I could do is play Monty Python ‘The Galaxy Song’ on continuous loop as well as at his funeral

So…Thank You for the Musicals [and music in general] for the times when we are so overwhelmed with emotion our brains cease to function :face_with_spiral_eyes:

On a lighter note :zipper_mouth_face: Been having problems with my WI-FI on the Laptop [Phone & TV fine]…so if I don’t respond quickly that’ll be the reason

Appreciate I’m an odd-bod in this respect but I can’t stand musicals of any type. I detest the Mamma-Mia type and the Chitty Sound of Bednobs Hairspray I find plain stupid. No one bursts into spontaneous song in the real world so why I have to endure it on my TV is an insult to my real world sensibilities. I did watch Tommy and Rocky Horror once and felt both were spoilt by inappropriate singing!

I know people enjoy them and I’m the odd one which is fine by me. Ironically I’m a big music fan and will happily enjoy listing to music for hours on my HiFi (just not on a Bose/sonos sound manufacturing box). Maybe I’m off again!

OK…“No One Bursts into Spontaneous Song in the Real World”

Think they are called ‘Flashmobs’ ???

Been racking me brains trying to locate a Musical that might interest you ?

Came up with Les Miserables from the novel [1862] by Victor Hugo

Try this Musical DVD of ‘Les Mis’…with ‘Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen’

NOOOOOOOO

That’s a classic work of fiction with great detail and numerous twists and turns, To watch in over 6-8 hours (TV series) was hard enough to attempt to cram it into 2 hours with 50% of the time listening to someone warbling would be hell.

I fully appreciate many people enjoy these things but I don’t, never had and never will.

Sorry.

OK Chaps…knew this was gonna be a tough Thread

So I’ve asked IanH via PM to shut it down for me because I’ve tried to work out how to do it but I’ve failed

So Get the ‘Hate Them’ Posts in whilst you can
