mx 5 alternator

Can anybody tell me at what engine rpm the alternator will produce its quoted output of 80amps

Very good questionThumbs up modern alternators are amazing really (even ones that might be 17 years old, like mine)

Basically an A/C alternator with diode rectifyer will only produce current when there is a demand for it, the more demand the harder it is to turn…It has to be under-load to produce its peak or rated ampere value. The more amps drawn from the battery by power consumers like lights, wipers, heated rear windows, electric windows, stupidly loud stereos and ````subs``` etc. the more current the alternator will generate.

I would expect full output to be generated on demand from 2,500RPM and above (engine revs)
