Mx-5 NC Engine Number Location

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC
  2. I’m based near: __
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __

Hello, I am wondering where the engine number is on the 2.0 MZR? I have bought a new engine and trying to locate where it would be on the block.

Any help appreciated

On the flywheel end of the engine stamped sideways if that makes sense. It’ll have a capital LF then a series of numbers. If you have an Owners Manual the location is shown in there.

It’s a sticker on the end of the block above the flywheel.

According to search engine AI:
The engine number of a Mazda MX-5 NC is located on the engine block [WOW WHO’D HAVE THOUGHT]. For the 1.6L and 1.8L engines, it is stamped on a flat top surface of a “spur” that sticks out from the top of the engine block at the back corner. It is level with the deck of the block, on the intake side for the 1.6L engine and on the exhaust side for the 1.8L engine. The stamp is faint and can be difficult to read without cleaning the area and possibly removing parts to get a clear view.

Thank you for the replies, I’ll have a look at the back of the engine above the flywheel next time I’m there
