I sold my A Class for £21.5K (to Evan Halshaw) having bought it two years earlier for £22K.
Also sold the wfe’s CX-3 to Arnold Clarke for a very good price.
I think older cars are probably trying to hang on to the rocketing prices, but I’m not too sure they are actually selling for the advertised price. I’ve had my 2009 NC on Autotrader for 3 weeks and not had a single response, even though it’s the cheapest advertised on the site.
Had our old Juke on Autotrader for a week with no serious enquiries. Copied all the details into a free Facebook ad and in three days had several serious enquiries and sold for close to the asking price.
Interesting. Similar story here. I’ve just sold my 2006 NC via Gumtree. It wasn’t getting much use and the current prices were attractive. It was gone the day after I put up the advert for very close to the asking price. Can’t complain. Free advert and it allows up to 20 photos, even allowing large file size High Res Jpegs. I had several enquiries, even one from the other end of the country. Unfortunately there were also a couple of chancers making stupid offers unseen, but it went to a good home fairly local to me. Means I may not be visiting here quite so often.

No actual experience but heard good things from others. They get bids from dealers and send you the best offer. If you accept they collect the car and you get the cash in your bank before they take it away. No fees either.
So if that is the case what has happened to prices of NA’s? Mine is a 33k N plate. Should I be looking to raise the insurance value on it? I may need to talk with my insurance bods.
Different dynamics for Mk1s; these are past the old banger stage, but they are not the sort of car people are looking at as a runabout. The usual places don’t want to know for old models, but Mk1 prices have been increasng now for a number or years.
Try Pistonheads, I live in Lancashire and advertised a 2001 Isola 1.6 in 2017. I received enquiries from Antrim, Yorkshire and Wiltshire. I hope that the buyer is still enjoying driving it in the Wiltshire countryside!.
I paid £2300 for the car in 2013 so had owned it for 4 years. I had a new hood fitted at a cost of £400, and replaced a couple of sensors and had it routinely serviced by MX-5 Specialist CBS Autos.
I sold the car for virtually what I had paid 4 years earlier - a lot of enjoyment for next to nothing!
.
I read this weekend that the price of a 3 year old MX-5 has increased by 45% recently.
I have a 2011 NC RC 2.0L in Copper Red with 31500 miles on the clock. I paid £8500 for it in 2017 - in a private sale - and would expect to be able to sell it for at least that sum now as it is in showroom condition.
I also own a 2016 Skoda Yeti 1.2TSI SEL manual which I purchased new for a heavily discounted £16500. I saw a 2017 one with an auto box advertised recently for £18990!
Bumping this thread as I have the chance to buy something on my “car bucket list”, problem is it would lead to me selling the ND which has always been a keeper.
How do I go about valuing a car with modifications?
