MX-5 Racing at Oulton Park, 19th March 2016

A 320 mile trip to Oulton Park today for some great early season action in the MAX5 series. A few photographs as a big thank you to Peter and the club for the tickets, hope the rest of the season is as good.

Paul Roddison was there in the new Mk4 as an invited car, the huge field of Mk1s and Mk3s made for some great action, the track was cold but dry.

Lights out

That’s another winner I’ve supplied tyres to then!

PeterMac thank you for the ticket.  I thoroughly enjoyed  Oulton Park on Saturday.

pjr great pictures.

Aa few bumps & scratches in the MAX 5 events, car 11 a bit more than a scratch,

fortunately nothing remotely like Alonso’s crash in Australia.

I’ve never seen 2CV’s race before, some real bumper-to-bumper drafting, great fun.

2CV memories; back in the 60’s hitched a lift from Southern France to Calais, not fast

but reliable, it rained the whole journey…

Cheers Nick - great day for BLiNK Motorsport Smile

Two weeks ago we purchased a Mk3 as a hire car and at the very last minute Richard decided to enter it into the MaX5 round at Oulton - having only ever raced Mk1’s, I personally thought the idea was ‘risky’ to enter a Mk3 as he has never raced one before - but, hey-ho!

The day started badly with Richard only able to complete one timed lap in qualifying as his gearbox failed on his third lap, luckily this one lap put him second on the grid with Nick Dunn only just beating his time in the last two minutes of qualifying.

The Gearbox was changed but we had to go with a best guess set-up for race 1. Race 1 went reasonably well with Richard finishing just behind Nick but managing to get the fastest lap of the race which was a bonus    (he also got a five second penalty for exceeding track limits as the photo in a previous post shows Embarassed )

A slight set-up change for Race 2 now we had some miles on the car and Richard led from Lights to Flag with some very consistent lap times - good ending to a stressful day!

There is going to be some great racing this year (again), thoroughly recommend getting to the circuits.

Hi all,

Here is Richards video (BLiNK Motorsport) from Race 1 (chasing Nick Dunn) - Race 2 is a bit boring as it doesn’t feature any other cars!
